This website is operated by United International Pictures with address at Building 5 Chiswick Park, 566 Chiswick High Road, London, W4 5YF and other companies in the UIP group ("UIP"). Our contact details can be found in the “Contact Us” section at the end of this Privacy Policy (the “Policy”).

At UIP we respect the privacy of our clients and we are committed to keeping all your Personal Data secure. This Policy describes what types of information UIP collects from/about you, why, how we collect it, how we use it, processing that we may do on the information and what your rights are. If you are younger than 18 years old of age, and you wish to provide us with your Personal Data to participate in a promotion or contest, you must read this Policy with your parent or guardian.

Personal Data” means any data which relates to a living individual who can be identified from that data or from that data and other information which is in the possession of, or is likely to come into the possession of, United International Pictures (or its representatives or service providers). In addition to factual information, it includes any expression of opinion about an individual and any indication of the intentions of United International Pictures or any other person in respect of an individual.

We collect the following information: through our website, which may include

  • contact details, including name, email address and telephone number, if you visit or browse our website, which may include if you request marketing information from us (e.g., sign up for a newsletter or download other marketing material), participate in a competition, prize draw or survey or if you send a query to us.   • to understand your needs and interests and communicate with you in order to provide you with services or information about UIP and UIP products;

  • to set up customers to use UIP products such as, where you consent, by providing you with access to our marketing materials;

  • for the management and administration of our business;

  • in order to comply with and in order to assess compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and internal policies and procedures;

  • for ongoing review and improvement of the information provided on this website to ensure they are user friendly and to prevent any potential disruptions or cyber attacks; and

  • to conduct analysis required to detect malicious data and understand how this may affect your IT system.

What happens if we don’t receive this information

If you fail to provide us with the necessary information, we will not be able to provide you with the marketing or other media material that you may request.


2. Social Media

We collect Personal Data from social media providers (including, but not limited to Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram) we use to promote our products. We receive name/username, posts and any other information you provide us during your interaction with our pages/groups on these social media websites.

We use this data

  • to contact you in relation to competitions;

  • to understand your needs and interests;

  • to communicate with you in order to provide you with services or information about UIP and UIP products; and

  • in order to comply with and in order to assess compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and internal policies and procedures.

Please note that our social media accounts may possibly be handled by a specialist company, which will act on our behalf. Please see the ‘Who Else May Access Your Data’ section for more details.

What happens if we don’t receive this information

If you fail to provide us with the necessary information, you will not be able to successfully interact with our social media pages (depending on the type of social media) and you will not be able to participate and/or receive prizes for competitions.


3. Job Applicants

When you apply to work at UIP your information will be collected and used in accordance with the Candidate Privacy Policy, which can be found here


4. UIP Services

Business contact details including name, email address and telephone number.

We use this data

  • to allow us to do business with you in case you are providing us with a service or product, e.g., if you are a supplier or exhibitor or work for them (e.g., business contact details).

  • to allow you to use and access the functionality provided by the UIP products;

  • for the management and administration of our business;

  • in order to comply with and in order to assess compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and internal policies and procedures; or

  • to communicate with you in order to provide you with services or information about UIP and UIP products; and

  • to conduct background screening to assess your financial and other suitability to conduct business with UIP.

What happens if we don’t receive this information

Failing to provide us with this information means that we will not be able to interact with you as part of the contractual agreement that we have and will result in invalidating our contract with you, unless other contact details as provided to us that will allow us to fulfil this contractual agreement.


Legal Basis for Processing

However we use Personal Data we make sure that the usage complies with law and the law allows us and requires us to use Personal Data for a variety of reasons. These include

  • we need to do so in order to perform our contractual obligations with customers;

  • we have obtained your consent;

  • we have legal and regulatory obligations that we have to discharge;

For How Long Will We Store Your Data

We store this information for as long as we need it for the purpose that was initially collected for. Our retention policies are drafted in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. We will keep information that the law requires us to keep for a certain minimum period and remove this information if the law requires us to do so after a specified period.

Marketing

Please note that marketing may be performed by us or, if appropriate, by a company that specialises in this area. The information we collect about you includes (but is not limited to) name, email, date of birth, address, phone number (landline and/or mobile number), your preferences and interests, or other information you provide to us or grant us access to. If you are under 18 years old, you must obtain the permission of your parent or guardian before participating in a contest or engaging in other activities.

If you are acting in your corporate capacity we will use your Personal Data for these purposes on the basis of our legitimate interest. Otherwise, as applicable, we will only use your Personal Data for these purposes where you provide your explicit consent. Your Personal Data will be used only for the reason you provide it to us, i.e. for you to be able to receive marketing material or the prize for a competition and will not be used for any other reason, unless we receive explicit consent for this from you.

Who Else May Access Your Data

In most cases your Personal Data is accessed exclusively by UIP staff according to their job description and business requirements. However, in certain cases we may share information with third parties

  1. We may share Personal Data with our group companies (including our parent companies) as part of a recruitment process. Occasionally, this includes transfer of your Personal Data to the USA or the UK, being the locations in which our parent companies are based.   2. If you send a CV or other Personal Data to us regarding a job opening or for future reference, we may share your information with specialist recruitment agencies and companies that conduct background checks. This will be communicated to you in advance and will occur only with your authorisation.

  3. In certain cases we conduct our marketing campaigns by using the services of a third party that specialises in this area. We make sure that the marketing company complies with all our policies regarding data handling and that all processing of Personal Data is lawful and according to your rights.

  4. Please note that our social media accounts may possibly be handled by us or a specialist company, which will act on our behalf and under specific instructions only. In this instance, the speciality agency will be processing your information under specific instructions by us.

  5. If UIP is legally required to, it may disclose information about its users (including Personal Data), at the request of governmental authorities conducting an investigation, or to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our website and applicable laws. We may also disclose such user information whenever we believe disclosure is necessary to establish, exercise or defend its legal rights or to protect or enforce the rights, interests, or safety of the website, our users or others.

  6. UIP may disclose non-identifying, aggregated user statistics to third parties for a variety of purposes, including describing UIP's services to prospective partners and other third parties.

Transfer of Website

Without in any way limiting the rights UIP has reserved above in the event of a "Corporate Change", UIP may transfer information it collects, including without limitation Personal Data, to any third party that assumes, acquires or is otherwise authorised to take control over this website, provided such third party has agreed to use your Personal Data in accordance with protections that in all material respects are the same as or more protective than those set out in this Policy.

Corporate Change

UIP reserves the right to disclose, share and/or otherwise transfer user information, including without limitation Personal Data, in connection with a corporate merger, acquisition, consolidation, the sale of substantially all of its assets, or other fundamental corporate change, whatever form it may take.

International Transfers

UIP generally does not transfer Personal Data outside the country of collection. In any case, we will ensure that all international transfers of your Personal Data are protected and transferred using appropriate security mechanisms and in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Occasionally we may transfer your Personal Data abroad (to a country outside the EEA) as part of the hiring process (as mentioned previously in this Policy). This will be communicated to you in advance and will be conducted in line with the Candidate Privacy Policy.

Security

UIP takes all reasonable precautions to protect your Personal Data by implementing the appropriate technical and procedural security controls. Appropriate controls (such as restricted access) are placed on our computer systems. Physical access to areas where Personal Data is gathered, processed or stored is limited to authorised employees. Access to sensitive Personal Data is limited to those employees who need to it to perform their roles. Unauthorised use or disclosure of confidential client information by a UIP employee is prohibited and may result in disciplinary measures. As a condition of employment, UIP employees are required to follow all applicable laws and regulations, including in relation to data protection law. Access to Personal Data

You have the right to obtain information regarding the processing of your Personal Data and request access to the Personal Data that we hold about you. If you would like to make a request please contact us (see “Contact Us” section below). In most cases, we will provide any information requested free of charge. Please note we may have the right to charge you a fee in accordance with the respective legislation if the request is excessive or repetitive. This will be communicated to you and access to your information will be provided assuming that you successfully provide identification before we can process your request.

  • withdraw your consent to the processing of your Personal Data if the legal reason for processing relies on your explicit consent at any time. Please note, however, that we may still be entitled to process your Personal Data if we have another legitimate reason for doing so.   • lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection regulator if you think that any of your rights have been infringed by us.
